What is DA:rE?

Changing strategies from opposition to proposition

DA:rE is much more than just a new interface onto an old paradigm. It’s a way of thinking, a new perspective on the entire democratic processes - from concept through delivery, from communication through support. The scope of DA:rE is to facilitate the widest-based consensus specific to break the segregation of interests. “DA:rE – Democracy Ahead: resolve for Europe” is a Multilevel Platform on the Future of Democracy.

Democracy may be on the cusp of a new era, one that would finally let loose the power of network effects, setting off a surge of innovation and opportunity. To help usher in this new era, the CIPI Foundation launches DA:rE that showcases the innovators who are driving it. Are we experiencing bits of a seismic shift? In most countries’ recent experience the democratic processes are already shifting. Some new democratic processes patterns are emerging:

Get richer the more people interact with them;
Are smarter the more people use them;
Communication is driven by ‘user’ stories and experiences.

Applications interact with each other to form a broader transversal platform. The trend toward new democratic paradigms is accelerating! DA:rE thrives on network effects that may forge a “Democracy 2.0”.

The novelty of DA:rE is the concept, the method and the scope.

Unbundling the value chain of Democracy by truly non ideological, non functionalist and non structuralist concepts;
Facilitating the largest convergence of stakeholders on specific projects instead of promoting a buy-or-leave-it political consensus;
Locking consensus by identifying sticky concepts in a fluid set of parameters and interests.

The DA:rE members include companies, civil society associations, individuals, institutions, policy makers, academics and media.
