Does border security fit sovereignty in the "flat world" era?

Sea, air, space, and land border security dimensions still represent fundamental aspects of sovereignty.

However, well known theorists claim that world security is breaking traditional patterns of analysis as many other international relations consolidated traditions.

Economy, finance and trade are increasingly borderless and stateless, but this does not seem valid for security.

Governments maintain that traditional Westphalian categories reinforce the need for stronger border security and defence.

Can security be defined as a "common good"?
