Border security cannot be a dogmatic approach isolated from a wider context: human, social, political or physical, for example. Would collaborative technology platforms , applicable to checkpoints, airports and seaports strategies, cultivate wider communities of practice?
 
Security policies generate consequences on many different actors: citizens, third countries, neighbours and immigrants. Could collaborative technology platforms  allow the participation of the many diverse security stakeholders in the development of border policies and decision-making processes ?
 
The involvement of the abovementioned actors is fundamental to re-conceptualize border security. The last years have seen an increased number of problems related to border policies. Should a sustainable strategy be based directly on the needs of governments, third countries, citizens and immigrants?
